Format:
Submit two copies of each poem entered. On the 1st copy put the Category Name and Category Number in the upper left-hand corner above your poem’s title. On the 2nd copy, put the Category Name
and Category Number in the upper left-hand corner above your poem’s title AND in the right-hand corner above your poem’s title put
your
name, your address, and either “Member MSPS” or “Non-Member”
Limits:
-
Poems may be 40 or fewer lines.
They may be unpublished, or previously published if the poet retains
the rights to the poem. Poets may enter each category as many times
as they wish. No poems will be returned. First Place Poems in each
category may be published in the Spare Mule Online newsletter
unless you state “Do Not Publish” beneath your membership status on
the 2nd copy of your entered poems.

Rhymed Verse
or Blank Verse (unrhymed iambic pentameter), any subject,
serious or humorous

Free Verse,
any subject, serious or humorous.

Humorous Verse,
any subject.

Winter Subject,
any form, serious or humorous.

MEMBERS ONLY:
Poet's
Choice:
any form (including open-field, shaped, or concrete poetry), any
subject, serious or humorous.
Prizes:
-
$25, $15, $10, and three honorable
mentions in each category.
Fees:

Non-members pay $2.00 per poem. Members pay $1.00 per poem.

Membership:

If you do not
belong to one of our local chapters, but wish to join Missouri
State Poetry Society, include the $13 annual Member-At-Large
membership fee and Membership Information with your poems. Joining
entitles you to enter the Poet’s Choice category and to pay the
reduced member contest fees.
With your
membership request, please include:
Full Name, Email AND Postal Address, and Phone Number (optional)
**Also state whether you prefer your email address to be published
with your name on the MSPS Website** (published and unpublished
email addresses will only be used to communicate MSPS activities
