Summary of Workshop: The poetry workshop will ... (update coming soon)

Presenter Bio: Dan Maguire is a native Philadelphian who now lives in Baltimore, MD. His work has won several prizes and awards and has appeared in numerous publications. Dan's work has been favorably reviewed by such poets as Robert Bly and Gerald Stern. He has twice been awarded first prize for poetry at the Philadelphia Writer's Conference and has been nominated for three Pushcart Prizes.

In February of 2004, Dan was invited to read at the Library of Congress of the United States. He has led poetry workshops through the Gloucester City (NJ) Adult Education Program, and the 2 Rivers Writers group. In 2005, he led one of the sessions at the first joint-workshop for disabled and non-disabled poets, held at Inglis House in Philadelphia. Dan has also led workshops for the National Federation of State Poetry Societies and the Philadelphia Writers Conference, twice.

In 2009, he won the Almeda Boulton Memorial Award from the National Federation of State Poetry Societies. He is currently teaching courses in poetry and short-story writing for the Renaissance Institute at the Notre Dame University, Maryland in Baltimore and for the Community College of Baltimore County.

His 2017 collection The Lateness of the Day won the third Joie De Vivre Book Award sponsored by The Mad Poets Review.
